Caring Committee

The Caring Committee is established to assist the Rabbi in acts of comfort and kindness for the members of our congregation. We emphasize the importance of the individual within the larger community. The Caring Committee seeks to make Temple Beth El a place where every congregant can feel supported and thought of in times of need.

Our Caring Committee is comprised of two connected groups: a direct service task force and a steering committee.

The direct service task force performs the actual work of caring: sending cards of joy and sympathy, caring visits and calls, rides to services (with 72 hours notice) and help with meals.

The Steering Committee directs the work of the caring, that we do. We find and coordiante opportunities for providing service, develop and manage the over all working of the Caring Committee. We developed a Caring form for use by clergy during and after hospital visits. We are also in the process of developing a resource list of home services that will be given to people leaving the hospital or rehabilitation centers. This will also be available on this page very soon.

If you would like to volunteer to help members of your Temple family, please email Lynne Ballesta. Your time commitment is up to you, anywhere from once a year, to helping on a regular basis.

We need the congregations help to notify the Caring Committee if a congregant needs assistance. Please let us know of a congregant that is:

  • Homebound Is living in an assisted/independent living facility
  • Needs help with meals
  • Needs a note or call of encouragement Needs a ride to services (72 hour notice needed for a ride to services)

Our volunteers are ready to assist members of our Temple family when the need arises.

Let us know about opportunities to serve our congregants. Or if you would like to become a member of the Caring Committee, email: Lynne Ballesta, Hnn44@aol.com or call the Temple office (608) 238-3123
