Speaking Out for Justice: A Time for Action

On Friday, January 20, 2017 a full sanctuary of worshipers joined Rabbi Biatch, Cantor Brown-Levy, and members of the Social Action Committee for a special Shabbat service entitled “Speaking Out for Justice: A Time for Action”. The intent of this service was to offer prayers for justice, to be reminded of the Jewish traditions and values that require us to stand up for human rights, and respond to the concerns of those who fear the rise of white supremacists and nationalists that has come forward both before and after the recent election campaign. The service featured exceptional music from the Temple Beth El choir and Cantor Brown-Levy. Congregants heard from Lester Pines, noted attorney and leader, past and present, of the Jewish Federation of Madison; and received concrete suggestions for immediate action.
